TransUnion and Rocket Fuel Combine Technologies to Enable Artificial Intelligence Powered Online/Offline Marketing Initiatives

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2014) - TransUnion and Rocket Fuel (NASDAQ: FUEL), a leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) advertising solutions for digital marketers, today announced a partnership to boost return on investment (ROI) for financial institutions' advertising initiatives. This partnership will enable financial services companies to improve advertising success and better secure prospective customers across multiple channels, both online and offline.

Financial institutions that offer credit card and/or loan products (mortgage, auto, student), as well as many insurance products (e.g. auto, home) will now be able to measure the impact of their digital advertising with Rocket Fuel across various channels. Even if the products were purchased outside of the digital channel, this solution enables attribution to digital, even when the initial transaction occurred over the phone or in person at a banking institution. This revolutionizes how marketers can measure and optimize the total impact of their digital marketing investments.

"Marketers typically measure digital success solely on online responses, yet online key performance indicators do not provide the full picture," said Steve Chaouki, head of financial services for TransUnion. "TransUnion and Rocket Fuel built a solution to provide financial and insurance institutions with tools to better determine how their marketing efforts are performing across all channels, and more importantly, how they can produce better results."

Both online and offline channels remain important in securing new customers for financial services companies. A Jupiter Research/NPD Group study found that 27% of consumers researched a credit card online, but visited a financial institution to make their final decision. In addition, Rocket Fuel's Q1 2014 financial services study found that 46% of respondents who have had their current primary card for three years or less first found out about the card online, while 34% learned about the card offline.

"With this new technology, Rocket Fuel and TransUnion can automatically adjust and optimize financial institutions' digital advertisements, providing scale and delivering messages that drive real business impact," said Richard Frankel, president and co-founder of Rocket Fuel. "The end result is a highly tailored advertising experience that efficiently produces strong results both online and offline, and is optimized in real-time across display, mobile, video, and social contexts automatically. We're thrilled to be the first company to partner with TransUnion to improve advertising success in a way that's never been done before."
